Historical Society & Museum
The Renville County Historical Society & Museum would like to invite everyone
to visit our display at this year’s Renville County Fair. Our theme will be:
“Old Villages of Renville County”
The theme will focus on the history of these lost or forgotten villages that helped shaped Renville County into what it is today. We will be focusing on 13 old villages. We qualified them as villages because most of them had a post office, creamery, and general store.
The villages we included were:
Beaver Falls Bechyn Birch Cooley Brookfield Camp Churchill
Cream City Eddsville Finn Town Florita Husky Town Lakeside Vicksburg
Our display will focus on the history of these villages, the reason they began and what made the villages die out. Each display will display pictures and artifacts that pertain to these villages. We will also pay special attention to the general store, post office and creamery because these elements were very important in the formation of these villages.
We will have 2 booklets and a DVD available focusing on the theme this along with other interesting items from our gift shop
